Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Background/Introduction 24-hour Holter monitors have been used widely to assess patients with suspected and known arrhythmias. Recent studies shown increased yield arrhythmia detection longer durations monitoring. Purpose The aim the study was evaluate incremental in significant arrhythmias detected using a 7-day continuous monitor, as compared what can be achieved within 48 72 hours study. Methods A retrospective from sites two geographical locations, B, who completed 7-days patch monitor performed. 801 these arrhythmias; pauses 3 seconds or more (PA), ventricular tachycardia 6 beats (VT), paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF). day first occurrence noted tallied determine multiday Results Of total cases arrhythmia, only 278 (35%) were 24hours, while 523 (65%) after Day 1. 331 (41%) had 3rd monitoring, 68 (44%) being PA, 125 (40%) PAF, 138 VT. Notably, Group A, 31 (72%) VT 35 PAF picked up 1, 21 (49%) Conclusions 1-day (24-hour) monitoring period fails detect number potentially serious cardiac Extended increases detection, substantial fraction (40-49%) No difference results obtained between locations demonstrates strong evidence that findings are consistent across different sites. Review current practice guidelines is necessary further expand usage thus increasing benefits patients.

Intermittent short ECG recording is more effective than 24-hour Holter ECG in detection of arrhythmias
BACKGROUND Many patients report symptoms of palpitations or dizziness/presyncope. These patients are often referred for 24-hour Holter ECG, although the sensitivity for detecting relevant arrhythmias is comparatively low. Intermittent short ECG recording over a longer time period might be a convenient and more sensitive alternative. The objective of this study is to compare the efficacy of 24-h...

متن کاملHOLTER MONITORING IN DIGITALIS - PROVOKED ARRHYTHMIAS 555 The Role of Holter Monitoring in Detecting
Certain arrhythmias detected on the electrocardiogram are considered to be reliable indicators of digitalis intoxication. We have evaluated the incidence of these arrhythmias on 24-hour electrocardiographic monitoring (Holter monitoring) in 69 consecutive patients who had serum levels of digoxin determined within 24 hours of the onset of continuous electrocardiographic monitoring. According to ...

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the seasonal variation of ventricular arrhythmias and its correlation with ambient temperature in patients submitted to 24-hour Holter monitoring in the city of Porto Alegre, southern Brazil. METHODS Holter monitoring reports of 3,034 patients from 1996 to 2002 were analyzed. Ventricular tachycardia (VT) was defined as the presence of 3 or more consecutive ventricular be...
